Once upon a time when 2 people got married it was done with a binding commitment. You said your vows in the presence of family, friends, your preacher, and most importantly in the lords presence. This is what made the vow binding, to come before the lord with a promise to love and cherish your mate till death did you part. So people were more obligated to sticking to this promise to the lord. Well today you have what you call a court house wedding and in most cases you can get married by a notary public and they turn in all your paperwork to the court house. So what really made this type of wedding sacred and binding? What seperates this promise to your mate from any other promise you made to him/her in the past that you didnt honor?
